Jr. Stable Manager Course

Six-week hands on course held over 8 weeks on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. Topics covered include parts and anatomy of the horse, daily care, first aid and emergency care, diseases, nutrition, equipment use and care, hoof care, and farrier, dental technician and veterinarian roles in care of the equine.

For the person new to the stable routine, this is an excellent opportunity to give a solid foundation to handling and caring for a horse. For the more “savvy” student, separate group instruction will include more advanced topics like bandaging, emergency care, and veterinarian topics and care. If time and weather warrants, the kids can put on tack and take a trail ride, further expanding their comfort and independence with horses. Participants should come dressed in appropriate barn attire, specifically long pants and hard-soled shoes.

Snacks and drinks are provided as well as a Stable Manager’s Notebook with handouts for each session. There will be a demonstration for family and friends and awards ceremony upon completion of the course.

The course is limited to 10 students at $180 for the 6-week session.

Gift certificates are available.

Class dates: January 8th, 22nd, 29th, February 5th, 12th and 19th.
